Personal Message Manager version 1.0_1

This ReadMe document for the Personal Message Manager describes the configuration and functionality of this release. For this ReadMe, and all other technical documentation, the Personal Message Manager will be known as PMM.

With the increasing threat of spam, there is a greater demand on the System Administrator’s time. PMM removes some of this demand by allowing end users to manage their own quarantined messages. PMM:

Installation

Setting up the PMM message area

During installation with the Business Suite II Installer, a dedicated PMM message area for quarantined messages is created in MAILsweeper for SMTP. If you are upgrading using the component installer, you are given the following options:

PMM Admin Area

Users with administration rights can access the admin area by selecting PMM Administration in the MAILsweeper for SMTP menu. From the PMM admin home page, administrators can view Logs and PMM Defaulters, and access the PMM Configuration pages.

PMM User Area

PMM allows end users to release or delete messages addressed to them but placed in quarantine in the PMM message area.

Messages in the PMM message area have been identified as being potential threats. For example, a message could match some of the criteria defined as being spam.

Recipients belonging to a domain specified in the PMM domain settings, receive a notification email informing them that there are messages addressed to them in the PMM message area. The email notification contains a hyperlink to the recipients PMM user area, where they manage their quarantined messages.
