Report Center version 4.3_1
This ReadMe document for the Report Center describes the installation and functionality of this release.
The Report Center provides a number of reports that can be used to provide an overview of the current MAILsweeper for SMTP system, or to analyse individual threats and patterns in email messages processed by an SMTP Server. Reports monitor and display the way SMTP servers process email messages, and track the receipt and delivery of individual email messages passing through the system. For example, reports can assess information such as the:
The Report Center uses audited data migrated from the MAILsweeper for SMTP database to the Report Center database. The Report Center database is created when the component is installed.

When installing, if a web site other than the default web site is selected to host the Report Center, images may be missing from generated reports.
To work around this: in Internet Information Services Manager, move CrystalReportWebFromViewer virtual directory from the default web site into your web site. Restart IIS services.
The installation issues for Report Center and all other MAILsweeper Business Suite II components are discussed in the document ReadMe for MAILsweeper Business Suite II.
The Report Center database is created during the installation. When the Business Suite II Installer is used, the data migration tool must be configured after rebooting. When this is done depends on whether you are upgrading or are a new user.
New users do not have an existing audit database. This must be created in MAILsweeper for SMTP. The audit database must contain data, before the data migration tool can be configured and the Report Center used.
Exiting MAILsweeper for SMTP users have an existing audit database. In this case the data migration tool can be configured immediately after rebooting.
The data migration service migrates data from the MAILsweeper for SMTP database to the Report Center database.
During installation, you are prompted to configure the data migration tool. This is done using the Configure MAILsweeper Audit Migration Service dialog box.
If, after installation, you want to access the dialog box to change the configuration, select MAILsweeper Business Suite II from the Start menu, and choose Migration Tool Configurator.
The Configure MAILsweeper Audit Migration Service dialog box has three configuration pages:
The Source Database configuration page is used to select the server and name of MAILsweeper for SMTP audit database.
The Migration configuration page is used to configure various migration options, which determine how the Data Migration tool extract audited data from the MAILsweeper for SMTP database.
The Service configuration page is used to select the Restart Service option when the configuration is saved after installation.
For each report you can view a short summary explaining the information it contains as well as more specific details on selected portions of the report. When you select a report to display, MAILsweeper for SMTP reads the audited data from the database and passes it to the report.
You can print reports or export report data to other file formats for use in other reporting tools.
To open the Report Center click the Start button and from the Programs menu select MAILsweeper Business Suite II and then choose Report Center.
During installation a Web site is selected from a list of those currently configured on the local computer, where the MAILsweeper for SMTP Report Center is installed. This is the Web site which will host the Report Center. The alias of the virtual directory you want to install the Report Center to on the selected Web site, must be entered as part of the URL when accessing the Report Center remotely. The default name is MAILsweeperForSMTP. For example http://servername/mailsweeperforsmtp.
In the Report Center report names are listed in categories, for example Top Senders, Top Recipients etc. Each report name provides a hyperlink to a report wizard. The various wizard options presented specify the parameters for the report. For example, the number of entries to view and the date range.
Report data is presented on screen and can then be saved in a choice of file formats.
